Calvin Jackson Moore

Sweet baby Calvin was so easy to photograph, I mean look at those big blue eyes! His session was 8am Saturday morning and I can’t say I’ve ever had a better time shooting. The second I showed up I was welcomed into the nursery and offered a cup of coffee, which shamelessly I accepted. Keith’s mom was in town, and while Calvin took a milk break, she insisted I sit down and enjoy a warm and delicious plate of breakfast that included eggs, avocado toast, and BACON. Man, the bacon was straight up perfection.

But it wasn’t just the delish breakfast that made it one of my favorite shoots, it’s because I feel like I’m finally getting the hang of things. I’m learning a lot more about lighting and angles I love, and I think this was the first time I didn’t feel completely awkward making my way around the room and moving his precious little arms and legs to where I wanted them. I also aim for natural, not super posed. And I used to feel like that wasn’t a good thing, that no one wants that and posed teeny babies is what everyone wants… but if you know anything about my style, know it’s very unposed. Regardless of the shoot I’m doing.

Plus Erin looked so pretty while still staying comfortable and natural, which I was excited about. I want the real version of your family, not the “oh crap I need to fix my hair..”

Even if I show up and the house is a mess, you’re in yoga pants and a messy bun, I’m still gonna ROCK that shoot capturing the authentic life you live. I would hate for you to stress about what to wear, how to do your makeup, or even clean a dish in the sink for me. It ain’t no thang, y’all, just be you.

I hope you enjoy baby Calvin! I know I sure did, the kids a beaut.
